I really liked "Rainwater" by Sandra Brown. It is very different from her other books. The story takes place in the 1930's. Lead character is Ella Barron a young mother of a disabled child. She is running a boarding house during times of great depression and racism. And into her life comes a new boarder Mr. Rainwater.

Ohhh, that DOES sound like a good book. I like any thing that takes place in a different era then our own! "vintage" stories, so to speak. :-) I just love it when friends on blogger recommend books cuz they never fail to turn out great. I most times go right out and buy them and this one will be no exception. Amazon loves me after I read blogs! :-)

p.s. LOVE the cats that might be moving in with you soon. I would love a cat, but DH thinks we have enough with all the kids still home, the chickens and the dog. :-) By the way, I used to have a cat named "CALI" so very close to you CALIO, it was short for Calico! And she lived to be 17.
