My First Car

I received my AAA magazine "Highroads"

They have an article about first cars. This month it featured Joe Garagiola Sr. His first car was a Nash. It had a very special meaning to him because the people from his neighborhood were so proud that "one of their own" had made it to the big leagues that they secretly collected the money and surprised him with the car.

It made me think of my very first car. The year was 1976 and the car was a 1966 Chevy Impala. My mother has gotten a new car so I got her old one. The interior was falling apart and the paint was faded. I could fill the tank up for under $10 dollars and it would last me for two weeks. I ended up selling it for $200 dollars in 1979. Years later my sons wished that I had kept it so they could fix it up. As first cars go it was a pretty decent car, but at the time I didn't appreciate it. All I wanted was something newer that wasn't owned by my parents first. The next car I got was a real lemon. I was sorry I had gotten rid of the Chevy, at least it ran good.

Hi Cherry,
Hey if you decide for sure that you want to join the bookclub let me know and I will add you to the blog roll list.
I dreamt AGAIN about the Host last night! Ugh. The Twilight dreams weren't bad but the Host dreams are a "little" freaky!
Thanks for leaving a comment and saying 'hi'

Hmmmm....My first sluggymobile was a SAAB made by a Swedish airline company, it was my Dad's old car, pretty cool for a first car until the fuel injectors started to fail. That car cost me more in repairs than if I had car payments! It was an oxidized shade of red and handled well when she ran. I drove it to Angeles Crest Highway in the foothills of LA and it got stuck in a canyon on a dirt road for a couple of days at a place called Wikiup. Ah, those were the days! Thanks for stopping by Slug's Rest for a visit, it is always so good to see you in the comments. You are, as Ren and Stimpy say, "One of thee good ones."
